Apple Crisp

With our summer wedding and hot, Tuscan honeymoon still ripe in our minds, it was a bit of a shock to return to a chilly NYC. I think we ignored the fact that Fall was ever going to arrive. But it brought along a whole new excitement and craving for all things apple. Hence, deciding to stay in on our first Saturday night home as husband and wife to make Martha Stewart's Apple Crisp.

Newlywed Note

Definitely serve warm (55 minutes in the oven and 10 minutes to cool was perfect) and with a scoop of ice cream of your choice (vanilla or caramel work well). Or you can be extra healthy and plop on a scoop (or two) of buttercream frosting . . . which is what we ended up doing. We also found it hilarious that the recipe says it can serve 8 people - because we are 2 people and ate half of it that night and the other half Sunday morning. Just a heads up. But all in all, super delicious and ten times easier to make than apple pie (a.k.a. the crust alone). And if you're cooking to impress, try using half pears, half apples.

Served on bright white dessert plates, with gold flatware.
