Springtime Spread

Tom and I are both passionate about being Agnostic and remaining removed from organized religion. However, we both grew up celebrating the traditions that come with those religions, and what they represent in regard to family time and FOOD. So, this year, we wanted to start making a point to create different names for those celebrations, so as not to mock the reasoning behind them as it's not something we believe in, but to continue the tradition of getting family and friends together. So far, Passover has become "Pastover" (where we make homemade pasta), and Easter has transitioned into a "Springtime Spread." While Pastover was celebrated by just the two of us, we had such a blast hosting the latter this past weekend (which happens to be an all-time favorite, mainly because of the pastel-required dress code) with a fabulous group of people. After going overboard on Thanksgiving, we tried to keep the menu concise and to the point. It ended up being one of the loveliest events we've thrown, with a near perfect balance of cooking time versus quality time together. Happy Spring!
